Breno Quinderé | bariton

Breno Quinderé is a Brazilian baritone based in Basel, Switzerland. He began his music studies at the age of seven on piano in his hometown Rio de Janeiro. After graduating in Singing and Music Education at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the University of Rio de Janeiro (Uni-Rio), respectively, he moved to Europe in order to pursue specialization in early repertoires. 

 

At the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees (Master of Arts in Musical Performance – Early Music, Renaissance-Romantic / Voice) under the guidance of Prof. Gerd Türk as well as a Post-Graduate Studies in Singing with Prof. Rosa Dominguez. He also had important impulses in voice Masterclasses with Margreet Honig and Paul Triepels. Currently, Breno is coached by Camila Toro (Bogotá/Paris).

 

With a keen interest in the solo and ensemble repertoires that extend from the Renaissance into the late 19th century, Breno has been seen on stage performing the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni and Colaggianni

 (Il Maestro di Musica, Pergolesi), both productions of the Experimental Opera Company of UFRJ, as well as taking part in diverse concerts as Orfeo (L'Orfeo, C. Monteverdi), Endimione (Orfeo, Luigi Rossi) and Dandini(La Cenerentola, G. Rossini). Both as a soloist and as an ensemble singer, he collaborates regularly with ensembles and directors from around Europe, such as La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble Basel (Andrea Marcon), Ensemble Vocal de Lausanne (Daniel Reuss), Ensemble Orlando Fribourg (Laurent Gendre), Choeur Eonia (Homero Ribeiro de Magalhães), BernVocal (Fritz Kraemer), Ensemble Turicum (Luiz Alves da Silva) and Basler Madrigalisten (Raphael Immoos), performing a various repertoire of chamber music and oratorios.

 

Breno is co-founder and member of Domus Artis, an ensemble dedicated to the interpretation of 16th-century and early 17th-century music. With his ensemble Breno won a scholarship from the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice where he immersed in an entire week masterclass on 16th-century French music tradition under the guidance of the renowned singer and specialist in early music Dominique Visse and the musicologist Kate van Orden (Harvard University). In March 2019 he recorded his ensemble’s first album dedicated to madrigals by Michelangelo Rossi which will be published in the season 2020/21 as part of the CD series of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Glossa Music). Breno is also a member of I Discordanti (Florencia Menconi), an ensemble dedicated to Italian music of the 17th-century, and co-founder of Da Tempera Velha, ensemble focused on the performance of late-medieval and early-renaissance Iberian repertoire.
