Concert in Krakow (PL) | Musica Divina Festival
The program presented by the ensemble Domus Artis on this occasion illustrates the distinctive qualities and atmosphere that characterise the Completas. It is structured around the Missa Quarti Toni by the Spanish composer Tomás Luis de Victoria (1548-1611), composed, as its name indicates, in the Hypophrygian mode. As the mass of Victoria installs this atmosphere throughout the evening, various aspects that pigment the character of the Compline are illustrated in a more direct way through interventions of songs, villancicos, motets and antiphons by composers such as Vásquez, Mudarra, Ceballos, Pedro de Cristo, Guerrero and Morales.
